Stop Losing the Outcomes of Your Meetings (Invite Copilot to Attend)

Listen. You’re great in meetings. I personally have never doubted you.

You are engaged, attentive. Even enthusiastic sometimes! I mean, really, there isn’t a better meeting attendee than you.

So now that we have that out of the way, I have to talk about just one teeny tiny flaw. Again, not YOUR flaw. It’s a flaw that’s baked into every meeting because of the nature of the beast.

Meetings have people in them.

And people.... well.... sometimes they, you know, miss things. Sometimes all the enthusiasm in the meeting walks right out the door with the people. And the initiatives, the creative solutions, the problems we’re solving get overlooked.

The enthusiasm that is carried out of the room holds all the deliverables. And if nobody has a system to turn those deliverables into action? We blame the meeting, don’t we?

Meetings are a waste of time. Nothing happens! We talk and talk but then *poof*.

The truth is that the meetings are not inherently bad. If they were, you wouldn’t be SO good in them. The problem is that there isn’t a clear system to help with the deliverables and outcomes. And that’s where our friend Copilot comes in.

Copilot can help you organize your good intentions, save on post-its that are scattered around the room, and identify the emails that need attention post-meeting.

What happens when you invite Copilot to the meeting?

Copilot has the objectivity to review your meeting notes or recordings and take emotion out of the equation. That means it’s capable of giving you clarity, real clarity, on what was discussed, agreed upon, assigned and ready for follow ups.

You can get the Cliff’s Notes of that meeting, with as much or as little detail as you need. (Remember those??)

Copilot will summarize key points, capture details needed for executing projects, and pull out action items. Copilot can assign these based on the meeting decisions.

Everyone then has the ability to be on the same page, take action on the deliverables and then make progress that might otherwise get stalled.

Now we’re talking REAL outcomes.

Teams that get to the point and complete the project faster. We stop losing track of tasks or forgetting who is doing what. Accountability skyrockets. Enthusiasm stays high when your team sees their efforts become reality.

The best part is, Copilot doesn’t even need a chair. Saved on office furniture right there.

What do we need to do to make this work?

Turns out, not much.

Quality prompts, of course (if you need a refresher on the value of these, see our earlier blog Copilot Prompts to Maximize Impact (Without Cutting Support)  — Excel & Flourish). You’ll need to be specific with Copilot to give you ownership of tasks, ask it to turn meeting outputs into Planner/Loop/To Do Items, and get the right follow up prompts going to make sure you capture all the genius that happened in the room.

Trust me, Copilot will NEVER take your place as the Best Meeting Attendee in the room. It just won’t. But it will make your life easier, your work more productive and enhance your teamwork in ways that just speaking into the air and scribbling down disjointed notes never could.

If you want some guidance on how to make this work for you and your team, let us know. DM on LinkedIn or email us at support@excelandflourish.com.

We can have a meeting about it!
