Why Copilot Training Belongs in Every MSP Conversation
Hey MSPs! I have a few questions for you:
Have your clients started purchasing Copilot licenses? Or are they stalled, waiting for guidance?
Have they started exploring Copilot? Do they have any guardrails, any safety perimeters?
Are they looking at you now, patiently waiting for you to be the one to point them in the direction of responsible, effective Copilot use?
That's a lot of questions, I know. Ok, one more....
Do they know that YOU are not a training company?
If not, it's ok to tell them that. Because we do have a solution for you, MSP.
You don't have to be a training company. Stop forcing that square peg of training into the round hole of your current service offerings. You have enough on your plate.
What goes on for your clients after the Copilot purchase?
After the licenses are bought and Copilot lights up their screens, many organizations expect immediate results. We no longer have patience on our side. That ship sailed when dial up left town. Immediate is the new expectation.
What they don't realize though is that adoption takes time, thought, and support.
Users really need to know the basics, like, um, oh I don't know.... How about where to start??! That's a good starting place. If you don't even know where to begin, the trip becomes very difficult to make.
They will struggle. They'll struggle with finding use cases and best practices. They'll lose momentum, letting their new investment gather dust – mainly because they don't know how to use it.
And worst of all, they'll fail to realize the expected ROI. They added this tool to their screens so they can improve on the customer experience, productivity, turnaround times, follow ups and more, and they can't get there without a clear path.
The good news: MSPs don't need to become trainers
We're not telling you to become something you aren't. You're not a trainer, you already have a fully developed skill set and team to carry out the client's IT needs.
Your opportunity to bring more value to your clients is to help them access the right resources for their training needs.
You're their go-to expert, and this is one more branch of your expertise. Your encouragement and connection to training opportunities for your clients is an extension of the services that you already provide.
Helping them to identify what they need, such as role-based training, Copilot readiness assessments, office hours, workshops, and learning services is the first step.
Then, your MSP experience in helping to find the right trainer, partner resources (like Clip Training), workshops or conferences will further insulate them from going down the You Tube rabbit hole. Knowing that you can help them connect with the proper tools will set their mind at ease and increase their trust in you.
All of these services complement your existing offerings and strengthen client success.
Why is this important to your clients?
Because right now, solutions are flying at them fast. They know that the need the tech, and they know they need more than 'just' the tech. They need outcomes, success and a reason to build on the tools they've invested in.
Your partnership in moving them from deployment to adoption creates stronger relationships and positions you as a strategic advisor. Exactly what you've been doing all along, we're just shining a new spotlight on it.
Don't worry. Nobody's asking you to build a training department. Coming with a plan for helping clients adopt the tools they've scooped up already is the answer.
Your ecosystem is the most valuable part. You've got the tools to build the power partners and referral network of your dreams. Work it with intention and your clients will reap all the benefits.
